BLOSSOM’S GUIDE TO CARING FOR BREASTS DURING BREASTFEEDING

As part of National Breastfeeding Awareness week in the UK, Blossom is working to promote postnatal breast care amongst nursing mothers.

After birth, you’ll find that your breasts will have undergone changes to their size and shape, so it’s vitally important for to care for this area of your body – particularly as it has such an important job to do!

Keep your décolletage cared-for with our shortlist of must-have nursing items for your post-natal bag that will make the breastfeeding experience comfortable and enjoyable.

Three to four days after giving birth your breasts will fill with milk and you’ll find that they feel a lot heavier than usual, so it’s important to invest in a good quality, well fitting nursing bra. Blossom has a range of designer maternity bras that will provide all the support that you need.

Our popular Celosia Vertical Cup nursing bra provides non-wire comfort, with practical pull-down cup detail to make breastfeeding easy and discreet. The floral pattern to this bra also provides a pretty alternative to dull maternity lingerie.

Booby Tubes are a natural, safe, gel-free breast pack made with 100% organic cotton shell and filled with all-natural flax seed. These handy gel packs comfort both breast and child during the nursing procedure, minimizing the risk of discomfort. What’s more, they can be used warm or cold, depending on your nursing needs.

Blossom recommends you store these in the freezer and wear them inside your maternity bra between feedings to help reduce the swelling or heat.

Earth Mama’s Nipple Balm is Blossom’s must-have remedy for discomfort to the breast area in-between feeds. This all-natural body butter restores natural oils and combats drying and cracking to the nipple area.

After birth, it’s natural to experience tenderness to the breast area, which can be heightened during feeds. This fantastic product is an absolute godsend to nursing mothers who need some tlc.

It’s impossible to go through pregnancy without experiencing changes to your body, but Mama Mio’s Boob Tube Bust and Neck Firmer fights the signs of aging in nursing breasts.

Specially created to increase the strength and elasticity of the décolletage skin, this proactive cream is packed with Avocado Oil, Evening primrose Oil, Shea Butter and CoQ10. What’s more, it’s Rich in Omega 3, 6 and 9 which all help to restore the lipid barrier and assist in prevention of collagen degradation.

Whether nursing or not, it’s important to pay special attention to your breast area as your body adapts to the changes brought on by pregnancy. Keep your body cared-for and check out our full skincare and wellbeing collection here:
